Pancake breakfast

The Callaway Lions host a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Callaway Community Center. It is a free-will offering.

Family ski trek

Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge hosts a Family Ski Trek at 1 p.m. Meet at the Pine Lake Parking Area located on County Hwy 29 for this two mile adventure. Participants will leisurely glide along with stops to admire the fascinating world of winter wildlife. For more information, contact the the refuge staff at 218-847-2641. The Becker County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Offices.

Friday, Feb.14

Friendly Squares

Park Rapids Friendly Squares hosts a square dance in Century School. Roger McNeil will be calling. Plus dance is 7:30 to 8 p.m. Mainstream is 8 to 10 p.m. Bernadette McNeil will cue between tips. Club will provide potluck lunch after the dance. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.

Valentine’s Day Dance

The Eagles Club hosts a Valentine’s Day Dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. in the Eagles Club. Music is by Hatfield Bay. Purchase a $5 cupcake for a chance to win $50 in cash. Need to be present to win. All proceeds will go to the Becker County Food Shelf.

Singing Valentine’s

The Heart O’Lakes Harmony barbershop quartet will give your special Valentine a singing valentine message, photo and gift at the location of your choice from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call 218-234-8697 to reserve a time.

DL Vintage Rally

The annual ULTRA Snowmobile Club’s Vintage Rally and Swap Meet begins with registration from 8 to 11 a.m., with the ride from noon to 5 p.m. It starts at the Detroit Lakes city beach in front of Zorbaz.

Eagles blood drive

Rising Sun Dancers

The Rising Sun Dancers host a square dance from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center. Roger McNeil will call the tips and Bernadette will cue rounds. Lunch furnished by the club. All spectators and dancers are always welcome.

Lake Region Veterans Color Guard

The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard fundraiser pancakes and French toast breakfast is from 8 a.m. to noon in the DL Legion Club. Suggested donation is $6.50.

Curling club open house

The Detroit Lakes Curling Club hosts an open house from 7-9 p.m. It is a free event for the public to come check out curling, see what it’s about and give it a try.  There will be members from the club there to answer questions, give demonstrations and guidance. Equipment will be provided and there will also be hot dogs and brats available.

The Midwest Minnesota Harness Club meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes American Legion.

Relay for Life kick-off

The American Cancer Society 2014 Relay for Life — which is June 20 — Kick-Off Event is at 6 p.m. in M State conference room. Community members, team captains, and team members interested in the 2014 Relay for Life of Becker County are invited and encouraged to attend. M State’s BES hosts a Lunch & Learn How to Patent your Idea on Feb. 27 from noon to 1 p.m. Cathy Lindquist, executive director for Small Business Development Centers, and Michael Neustel, patent attorney, will talk about patenting your ideas.
