Pancake breakfast

The DL Knights of Columbus sponsors a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

Alzheimers-Dementia group

The Alzheimers-Dementia Support Group meets at 2 p.m. in the DL Library. These meetings are open to the public. This month, Jess Steinbrunner, Alzheimers Association representative, will be speaking. Anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimers and the resources available to caregivers are invited to attend. There is no charge.

Spring Splash Party

Celebrate your child during National Week of the Young Child with a Spring Splash Party from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Education Center, DL.

Sons of Norway

Vikingland Lodge No. 495, Detroit Lakes, meets at 7 p.m. in Union Central, DL. The program will be Elena K Photography from Fargo.  Elena specializes in women’s photos. She has an interesting background as she is relatively new to Fargo where she lives with her husband and two sons. Elena grew up and lived in Siberia. She will tell us how she came to Fargo and her interest in photography. Public is invited.

NARFE meeting

Detroit Lakes NARFE (National Active & Retired Federal Employees) Chapter 1842 meets at noon in the Ice Cutter Room at the Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes. Our guest speaker will be Kevin Litzau, owner of Toad River Technology, who will speak on computer maintenance. All current and retired Federal employees and spouses are encouraged to attend.

Season of Hope

The DL Christian Women’s Club hosts Season of Hope from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Holiday Inn. Lunch cost is $9.25. Make reservations by April 7 to Norma at 846-1977 or Ruth at 847-5507.

Thursday, April 10

Genealogical Society

Heart O’Lakes Genealogical Society meets the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. Our speaker will be Virginia Weston who will speak about her Weston line. Anyone who is interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting.

BC Republicans

The Becker County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Offices.

Laurentian Lakes meeting

The public is invited to the Laurentian Lakes Chapter meeting of the North Country National and Scenic Trail Association at7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library. Find out about this season’s trail building plans, scheduled hikes and information on the great hiking opportunities and activities planned in Duluth for the first ever Hiking Celebration in August. The chapter’s first spring hike will take place in Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge at 1 p.m. on April 26. For more information call 218-847-1929.

Back to the Wetlands

The Friends of the Wetlands hosts Back to the Wetlands fundraiser beginning at 6 p.m. in Speak Easy, DL. Tickets are $30 per person and include cocktail hour, dinner, speakers and a silent auction. The program will be “Wildlife of the Prairie Wetland Habitat.”

Ladies Ducks Unlimited

Friendly Squares dance

Park Rapids Friendly Squares hosts a square dance in Century School. Royce Nelson will be calling from 7:30-8 Plus and 8-10 Mainstream. Donna Stone will cue rounds between tips. The club will have their annual meeting right after the dance from 10-11. Club members will provide a potluck lunch after the dance. All square dancers and spectators are welcome. Saturday, April 12

Easter egg hunt

The DL Women of Today sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt & Meet the Easter Bunny event at 10 a.m. in the Washington Square Mall. This is for children 8 and under.

Eagles Stag and Doe event

The 14th Annual Eagles Stag & Doe event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the DL Eagles Club. Raffle tickets are $25 each, and the drawing is at 9 p.m. A meal is also available from 6:30 to 10 p.m. for $25 a ticket. It includes catered meal and drinks.

Woodcarving

The Lakes Area Woodcarvers meet at 9 a.m. in the Washington Square Mall. The public is invited to stop by and visit and see demonstrations.

PEO Chapter FG

P.E.O Chapter FG meets at 9:30 a.m. in the home of Ardys Horner, with Beve Melgaard and Kathy Simison assisting. Program will be presented by Carol Ann Dahlberg. Refreshments will be served.

Maple Syrup Fest

Vergas hosts its annual Maple Syrup Festival. That day there will be a pancake feed, 5k run/walk, children’s egg hunt, maple syrup milkshakes, maple syrup demonstrations and more. Check out cityofvergas.com for more information.

Flowers for sale

The Roosevelt PTO is selling flowers and some produce now through April 14 to raise money for field trips, technology and other needs for the elementary school. Orders will be delivered May 8 by the students who submitted the orders. For those wishing to order flowers, which will all grow in this zone, can either contact a Roosevelt Elementary student or Jenna Schoenberger at 850-0595.

Heart O’Lakes Harmony

The Heart O’Lakes Harmony chorus presents “Halo & Good Buy Tent Revival” April 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kennedy School Auditorium, Fergus Falls, and April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Historic Holmes Theatre, DL. Tickets are $12 and children under 12 are free.
