Lakes Area Community Concert Band

The Lakes Area Community Concert Band performs at 4 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre. There will be a free-will offering.

Fried fish dinner

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Callaway, hosts a fried fish dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is free will offering. The Mary/Martha Ladies will also hold a bake sale.

Rising Sun Dancers

Rising Sun Dancers hosts their last dance as a club from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center, with Roger Lueth calling the tips. This will be a free dance, so if you can, please come and join us. Lunch will be served by the club.

Staying strong for Paxton

Paxton, 18-month-old son of Tasha Licence and Ryan Brummund, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and a benefit for him is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in The Cactus, Perham. There will be a pancake feed, silent auction, vendors and bowling. Donations can also be made at United Community Bank.

Tamarac volunteer training

Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge hosts a volunteer orientation and spring training from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Visitor Center. Itasca Moraine Chapter of the North Country Trail Assoc. holds its spring meeting at Jimmy’s restaurant, Walker. The meal is at 5:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7.  The public is welcome.

United for Jesus event

A Generation United for Jesus hosts a concert at 8 .m. in the Holmes Theatre with Dead Come to Life featuring Loftland and Tricia Brock from Superchick. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Amber Shaide benefit

A benefit for Amber Shaide is from 6 to 10 p.m. in Shorewood Pub. There will be chili and fry bread, a silent auction, meat raffle, DJ and pool tournament.

May Day for Shianne

A benefit for Shianne Stull, Hawley sixth grader who has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, begins at 1 p.m. in The Mainline Bar and Grill in Downer. There will be a kids carnival, food, an auction and live entertainment. Donations are also being accepted at any Bell State Bank & Trust location.

Chili feed

The 28th annual Height of Land Sportsmen’s Club chili feed is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Height of Land Sportsmen’s Club, 13 miles east on Hwy 34 and 1/4 north on public access road. There will be door prizes and raffles.

Parrot Heads meeting

The Lakes Area Parrot Heads monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. in Zorbaz. The group will be working on upcoming “maCAWS for PAWS” and “Boats & Bars 9” events.

Pancake breakfast

The Knights of Columbus sponsor a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.

Legion Auxiliary breakfast

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 hosts a pancake/French toast breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 the DL Legion. A suggested donation of $6.50.

Museum Day

The Becker County Historical Society hosts the annual Museum Day from noon to 4 p.m. Come check out old time games, horse and wagon rides, hand cranked ice cream, demonstrations and more. The event is free.

MOFAS community event

A MOFAS community Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder presentation and discussion for all young men and women, ages 14-25, is May 1 from 4-6 p.m. in Lincoln Education Center, DL. There will be free gifts, dinner and prizes. Childcare is available. Contact Carrie at 218-847-4418 to reserve space.

AARP defensive driving class

Twine rug class

Do you like the look of homemade rugs? Don’t like to let anything go to waste? Try the twine rug class through Lake Park-Audubon Community Ed. Turn old jeans, t-shirts, bed sheets, towels or virtually any material into beautiful rugs. Prep work is required prior to each class, which is held in the LPA elementary lunchroom. Cancer support group

Essentia Health St. Mary’s Cancer Support Group meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5 pm.  Please meet at the fireplace in the Clinic Lobby.
