North Country Trail hike
North Country Trail Spring Series Hike No. 4 begins at 2 p.m. where the trail crosses the Woodtick Trail 6/10th of a mile east of Hwy 371. The Woodtick Trail departs Hwy 371 four miles south of the Y (Northern Lights Casino). A 3-mile hike.
Walk through Sucker Creek
Take a walk through Sucker Creek Preserve beginning at 3 p.m. at the circular park lot, 2050 290th Avenue. Sally Hausken and Scott Sonstegard will lead you through adventurous wonders in our natural world. In case of bad weather, the walk will be rescheduled for the following day.
The Elbow-Tulaby Lakes VFD hosts a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m.-noon in the Fire Hall, located on Hwy 113 about 20 miles east of Waubun. Cost is $5 for adults, $1 for children 2-6, and children under 2 are free.
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frazee, hosts a Memorial Sunday Bake Sale from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All proceeds go to the repair of the steeple and stained glass windows. Everyone is welcome.

Finnish American Historical Society
The Wolf Lake Chapter of the Minnesota Finnish American Historical Society hosts their 28th annual pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wolf Lake Lions Hall. A free will donation will help fund scholarships to Salolampi, the Finnish language camp at Concordia Language Villages. Everyone is welcome.
Memorial Day potluck
Egelund Church, located north of Detroit Lakes, hosts a potluck dinner at noon. It is a free will donation, which will go toward the upkeep of the church and cemetery. Everyone is welcome.

ELCA Women’s Retreat
The ELCA Women’s Bible Retreat for Clusters 5, 6 and 7 will be held at the Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes on June 2. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the retreat beginning at 9. The theme “Let There Be Peace” will feature Pastor Jillene Gallatin from Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes as the Bible Study leader. A musical presentation will be given by Tami Jensen of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Osage. In the afternoon, inspirational speaker Kim Wagner will present. The closing session will include a communion service led by Pastor Hope Deutscher from Living Grace Lutheran Church in Hawley. Retreat concludes at 3. TeacHaiti founder speaks
Miquette Denie McMahon, founder of TeacHaiti, will be visiting Detroit Lakes to share her stories and pictures about the successes of the TeacHaiti scholarship project. She will be speaking June 11 at 3 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, DL. She will also speak June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the annual fundraiser and Ice Cream Social in Trinity Lutheran Church, DL. Cost is $15 per person or $25 for two people. Lastly, she will speak June 15 at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. worship services and 9:30 a.m. fellowship in Cormorant Lutheran Church. Jewelry handcrafted by the TeacHaiti students available for purchase at all three speaking engagements.
LP-A summer day camp
Lake Park-Audubon Community Ed offers Summer Day Camp with crafts, play outside or in the gym, go swimming, take field trips, and have special guests. Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre Play
Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre is back this year to help put on “Peter Pan.” Youth ages 7-18 are invited to join Lake Park-Audubon Community Ed this summer for a trip to Neverland with a twist. Practice is Aug. 18-23, and auditions take place on the first day and everyone gets a part. Participants should bring a water bottle and snack each day to practice.
