Shoreham Chapel services begin June 8 at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday through Aug. 31. Rev. Tim Cook will be officiating. Katherine Noone, assistant music professor of voice from NDSU, will celebrate the chapel’s opening. Coffee and refreshments served after each service.

My Carbon Paw Print
Come to the DL Library at 2 p.m. for My Carbon “Paw Print.” Sandy Gunderson from Becker County Environmental Services will discuss what kids can do to help protect the planet. “Green” activities to follow.
The Becker County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Hall meeting room.
The Heart O’Lakes Genealogical Society meets the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. The speaker will be Mary Lepisto, who will speak about her family. Anyone who is interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting.

Hidden History Happy Hour
The Becker County Historical Society hosts a Hidden History Happy Hour: For Your Health at 7 p.m. in the museum. Come learn about the history of medicine in Becker County. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and include a free drink and food. Reserve a ticket at 847-2938.

Floyd Shores meeting
The 2014 Floyd Shores Association holds their annual meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall. Jeff Forester of Minnesota Rivers and Lakes will be the guest speaker. Also on the agenda will be reports from all committees, adoption of a budget and the election of new board members. There will be updated reports on buoys, Campbell Creek and AIS inspections. TeacHaiti founder speaks
Miquette Denie McMahon, founder of TeacHaiti, will be visiting Detroit Lakes to share her stories and pictures about the successes of the TeacHaiti scholarship project. She will be speaking June 11 at 3 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, DL. She will also speak June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the annual fundraiser and Ice Cream Social in Trinity Lutheran Church, DL. Cost is $15 per person or $25 for two people. Lastly, she will speak June 15 at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. worship services and 9:30 a.m. fellowship in Cormorant Lutheran Church. Jewelry handcrafted by the TeacHaiti students available for purchase at all three speaking engagements.
The Perham Center for the Arts hosts an arts festival June 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and June 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
