Shoreham Chapel

Shoreham Chapel services are at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday through Aug. 31. Rev. Tim Cook will be officiating. Kathie Brekke and the Apostles Blues Band will perform this week. Coffee and refreshments served after the service.

Color Guard breakfast

The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard pancake and French toast fundraiser breakfast is from 8 a.m. to noon in the DL Legion Club. A suggested donation is $6.50.

Butterfly Kisses

Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts Butterfly Kisses and Wetland Jewels at 2 p.m. Take an intriguing look into the world of butterflies and dragonflies. Learn about their fascinating lifestyles and their significance in a changing climate. Meet at the visitor center and later venture out into the field.

Online high school meeting

MTS Minnesota Connections Academy, a tuition-free, K-12 virtual public school, hosts a free information session for families interested in learning about its online program and individualized approach to education. It is from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Holiday Inn, DL.

PEO Chapter DQ

Chapter DQ, P.E.O. meets at 1 p.m. at Vicki Stigen’s camp on Island Lake. The hostess is Vicki Stigen, with Linda Brockmann, Carolynn Blanding and Nancy Nereson assisting. The program will be about the recent P.E.O. State Convention, presented by Vicki Johnson the chapter delegate.

Senior Fest

Becker County Senior Network hosts Senior Fest from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Pavilion. Cost is $12. There will be provider booths, Outstanding Senior Recognition Program, educational speakers, music, pontoon rides, lunch, root beer floats and door prizes throughout the day. Camp Cherith open house

Come visit Camp Cherith from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. during an open house. Everyone is invited to come and try some of the activities, tour the campsite and make a dessert over the campfire. It’s an open house, so come for any or all — archery, horses, crafts, nature, outdoor cooking and more.

Talk of the Town

Steve Stark will speak during “Talk of the Town” beginning at 9 a.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. Stark will be in costume and bring a unique history presentation to life in telling stories while actually drawing with skill and speed before your eyes on 20-30 feet of giant rolls of paper. Come and enjoy this free event. Coffee and cookies will be served.

Ecumen celebrates 50 years

Ecumen Detroit Lakes celebrates 50 years of service with a “A Dance to Remember” from 6 p.m. to midnight in the Detroit Lakes Pavilion. There will be a hog roast, music and dancing by The Shakers, a classic car show and beach volleyball.

Snow cones for Relay

The Detroit Lakes Women of Today are serving snow cones to raise money for the Becker County Relay for Life.  Snow cones are $1 and include a variety of flavors. Find them at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center on June 17 and 19 from 6-8 p.m. both days and at the Becker County Relay for Life June 20 at the DL High School Track from 5-9 p.m. 

Tuesday in the Park

Habitat for Humanity serves burger, hot dogs and brats each Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. before the concerts. Funds will assist in providing affordable housing for needy families. Tuesdays in the Park concerts begin at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair. DLHS Class of 1984 reunion

The Detroit Lakes Class of 1984 reunion is June 28, beginning with social hour at 6 p.m., with dinner to follow, at the Detroit Country Club. St. John’s, Vergas, VBS

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Vergas, holds VBS June 9-13 from 5 to 8 p.m. for children preschool to sixth grade. The theme is “Weird Animals,” which will focus on God’s weird animals and the challenges children are currently faced with every day. VBS will provide supper to children. Church auction, rummage

Cormorant Lutheran Church, Lake Park, hosts an auction and rummage sale. The rummage sale is June 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the auction begins June 28 at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served.

Miss Northwest candidates

The Miss Northwest Pageant Committee is looking for Miss Northwest Outstanding Teen contestants ages 13-16 and Miss contestants ages 17-23. The pageant will be July 11, and application closing date is June 20. The Miss Northwest pageant is affiliated with the Miss America franchise. Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre Play

Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre is back this year to help put on “Peter Pan.” Youth ages 7-18 are invited to join Lake Park-Audubon Community Ed this summer for a trip to Neverland with a twist. Practice is Aug. 18-23, and auditions take place on the first day and everyone gets a part. Participants should bring a water bottle and snack each day to practice. Essentia Health St. Mary’s Cancer Support Group meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5 pm.  Please meet at the fireplace in the Clinic Lobby.
