The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 hosts a pancake/French toast breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.in the DL Legion. A suggested donation of $6.50.

The Frazee Volunteer Fire Department hosts a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the fire hall. It is a freewill donation.

The Knights of Columbus sponsors a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.
Kids Day at the Range
Kids Day at the Range, sponsored by the Osage Sportsmens Club, is from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Try your hand at rifle, shotgun and archery against a variety of targets. There will be a black powder demonstration. Ages 12-16 must have firearms certificate and parent. .243 or smaller. $2 per shooter. Lunch is available. Learning about service dogs
The Detroit Lakes Library hosts Working Dogs: Service Dogs at 2 p.m. as part of the kids summer reading program. Linda Weidewitsch, who has trained a number of dogs for specialized work, will bring a dog in training, and speak about the dogs she trains, training techniques, and the future homes for these very special dogs.
The Heart O’Lakes Genealogical Society meets the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. Anyone interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. The Becker County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Hall Meeting room. The Becker County fair is coming up and any help at the BPOU fair booth would be truly welcome. It isn’t difficult and can be a very eye-opening experience. There will be volunteers needed to help man the campaign headquarters.

Talk of the Town
Former Kuwait residents David and Nadine Brown will speak during “Talk of the Town” beginning at 9 a.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. Come and enjoy this free event. Coffee and cookies will be served.
The public is invited to a retirement reception from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library for retiring Library Associate Dotz Johnson. There will be a short presentation at 3:30. Johnson’s last day will be July 11 after 16 years of service to the Detroit Lakes community.

Pre-Harvest 5k fun run
Registration for the Waubun Pre-Harvest 5k Fun Run and Walk begins at 7 a.m., with a start at 8. It is free. Refreshments furnished. Shirts will be available for sale, with proceeds going to a scholarship fund. Call Ray at (218) 734-2230 for more information.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Detroit Lakes and Perham hosts the annual Ride for the Future motorcycle ride to raise awareness for after school and summer programming. Ride for the Future will begin with registration and check-in at the Detroit Lakes City Park near the Pavilion at 9:30 a.m. Kickstands will go up at 10:30 a.m., and riders will tour a 100-mile scenic route that includes a lunch stop at Zorbaz on Ottertail Lake and a rest stop at the Cormorant Inn. The ride ends at BJ’s Barbecue Shack around 5. The cost of the ride is $20 per bike and $10 per 2-up passenger. Zion kids carwash
Zion Lutheran, Detroit Lakes, confirmation kids host a $5 carwash fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church parking lot. Additional free will offerings accepted. All dollars/donations help support Zion’s Confirmation kids’ activity programs.
AIS volunteer training

Water Carnival and Rotary Club pair up for the Rotate the Lake event from 1 to 6 p.m. beginning at the Pavilion. Come bar and grill hop by boat, bike, foot. Stop at various restaurants around Detroit Lake; prizes will be given out at each stop.

Church bake sale
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frazee, hosts a holiday bake sale on July 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and on July 6 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. All proceeds are for the repair of the steeple and our beautiful stained glass windows. Everyone is welcome.
Garden Club bus trip

Red Cross swimming lessons
Red Cross certified instructor Nancy Jacobson offers Red Cross swimming lessons July 7-11 and 14-18 at the Vergas City Beach on Long Lake. Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church VBS
Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church host “Weird Animals” vacation bible school from July 20-24. Kids will learn about some of God’s most creative creations by participating in Bible-learning activities, singing catchy songs, playing teamwork-building games, digging into treats and more.
