Predator Paws

The Detroit Lakes Library hosts Predator Paws at Tamarac at 2 p.m. What kinds of predators live in Becker County? Get this answer and more from a Tamarac Wildlife Refuge naturalist, who will bring along “wild” things to hear, see and touch.

Little Big Year

The Cultural Center in New York Mills is launching its 1st Annual Little Big Year. Anyone interested in birding and learning more about our feathered friends is invited to the organizational meeting at 7 p.m. in the Cultural Center. Ladies salad luncheon

The First Lutheran Ladies Salad Luncheon is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funds going to support the crisis center, Compassion House  and other mission groups. Adults are $8 and children 10 and under are $5.

Garden Club picnic

The Lake Region Garden Club holds its annual potluck picnic at 6 p.m. at Niki Strom’s home.

Wildlife Excursion

Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts a Wildlife Excursion at 10 a.m. Explore the refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of the refuge on this two hour adventure. Meet at the visitor center.

Pubs and Places opening

Kim Jore, artist and owner of Riverzen Art Studio and Gallery, hosts Pubs And Places At The Lakes, an art opening and fundraiser for the Humane Society of the Lakes, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Speak Easy, Detroit Lakes. This is the 5th series of a collection of watercolors by Kim Jore featuring the Pubs of Fargo/Moorhead and the lakes area.

Longfors/Pihlaja family reunion

Park Rapids Friendly Squares

Tamarac Wildlife Refuge presents the movie “First Flight, A Mother Hummingbird’s Story” at 2 p.m. This award winning enchanting documentary follows the dedicated efforts of a tiny black-chinned hummingbird to lay, incubate, hatch two tiny eggs and raise the fledgling chicks. 45 min. Following the film, join us for Hummingbird Trivia and Feeding Tips.

Color guard breakfast

The Lake Region Color Guard hosts a pancake/French toast fundraiser breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon in the DL Legion. Suggested donation is $6.50.

Belles Club Bazaar, Bake Sale

The Belles Club of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church will hold its annual bazaar and bake sale from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, and 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday, July 20. The Belles will sell barbecue pork sandwich plates after the 5 p.m. mass on Saturday, and again after the 10:30 a.m. mass on Sunday. There will also be cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, coffee and juice served after the 8:30 a.m. mass on Sunday. Lots of games, fun and shopping for the whole family; the winners of the raffles for two quilts and a vacation home getaway will also be announced. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.

Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church VBS

Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church host “Weird Animals” vacation bible school from July 20-24. Kids will learn about some of God’s most creative creations by participating in Bible-learning activities, singing catchy songs, playing teamwork-building games, digging into treats and more. Weird Animals VBS is for kids from ages 6 -13 and will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each day. A pre-school class will be available for ages 4-5. For more information and/or rides, call 218-439-3255.

Tuesdays in the Park

Habitat for Humanity serves burger, hot dogs and brats each Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. before the concerts. Funds will assist in providing affordable housing for needy families. Tuesdays in the Park concerts begin at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair. Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre Play

Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre is back this year to help put on “Peter Pan.” Youth ages 7-18 are invited to join Lake Park-Audubon Community Ed this summer for a trip to Neverland with a twist. Practice is Aug. 18-23, and auditions take place on the first day and everyone gets a part. Participants should bring a water bottle and snack each day to practice. Cancer support group

Essentia Health St. Mary’s Cancer Support Group meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5 pm.  Please meet at the fireplace in the Clinic Lobby.
