Social Security pre-retirement session
The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce and Mahube–Otwa Community Action Partnership, Inc. host a free, public Social Security pre-retirement session at 3 p.m. in the DL Library. Space is limited so those wanting to attend should contact the Chamber at (218) 847-9202. Topics will include Social Security programs, creating your own SS account, your FRA and why you should care, how is your SSA retirement amount determined and much more. Audience participation is encouraged.

The League of Women Voters, in partnership with the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce, host a candidate forum at 7 p.m. in the DL Library for the Becker County auditor-treasurer and recorder positions. Sharon Sinclair will moderate. Some questions will be answered by all, other questions will be specific to the office sought. This forum is being held because both offices are contested for the primary election on Aug. 12.

Lakes Aviation and Wings Flight Training host a Lakes Country Fly-In and car show at the Perham Municipal Airport. A pancake breakfast is from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., aerobatic performance at 11:45, free airplane rides for kids from 9:30 to 11:30, and auto show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be food vendors, aviation exhibitors and more. The event is free.

Legion Auxiliary breakfast
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 hosts a pancake/French toast breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.in the DL Legion. A suggested donation of $6.50.
The Knights of Columbus sponsor a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.

Niijii Radio Fund Drive
Community radio station KKWE, Niijii is holding a fund drive July 28-Aug. 2. A ‘Very Berry Social’ will be held July 31 from 3-8 p.m. and includes berry desserts, ice cream, hoop competitions, bouncy houses, door prizes and music. On August second they will be hosting a game day. Competitions will include tug-o-war, kick ball and horseshoe tournaments. Game day registration available at 607 Main Ave., Callaway, Minn. Tuesdays in the Park
Habitat for Humanity serves burger, hot dogs and brats each Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. before the concerts. Funds will assist in providing affordable housing for needy families. Essentia Health St. Mary’s Detroit Lakes Clinic hosts sports physicals. Essentia Health staff will be on hand specifically to see student athletes and fulfill the requirements for sports physicals on Aug. 6 from 1-4:30 p.m., Aug. 7 from 8-11:30 a.m. and Aug. 12 from 1-4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. For those unable to attend at these times, sports physicals can be scheduled with any pediatrician or Family Medicine provider at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Detroit Lakes Clinic by calling 847-5611.
