Wild Wednesday at Tamarac

Explore the world of nature with your child or grandchild during this hour-long adventure geared for 3-7 year olds. Explore the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of the refuge on this two hour adventure. Meet at the Visitor’s Center at 10 a.m.

Perham fly-in

Lakes Aviation and Wings Flight Training host a Lakes Country Fly-In and car show at the Perham Municipal Airport. A pancake breakfast is from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., aerobatic performance at 11:45, free airplane rides for kids from 9:30 to 11:30, and auto show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be food vendors, aviation exhibitors and more. The event is free.

Sunday, Aug. 3

Legion Auxiliary breakfast

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 hosts a pancake/French toast breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 the DL Legion. A suggested donation of $6.50.

Pancake breakfast

The Knights of Columbus sponsor a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.

Movie at Tamarac

Come to Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge to watch ‘North America’ episode three: ‘Learn Young or Die.’ The film explores the extremes and wonders of North America’s mountains and forests. After the 50 minute film, stay to discover more about Tamarac’s wildlife survival secrets. Event takes place in the Visitor’s Center at 2 p.m.

Used Book Sale

Becker County Friends of the Library will be holding its annual used book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Detroit Lakes Public Library. All books, DVDs and audiobooks for sale will be donated and proceeds will support the free programs hosted by the Library.

Caregivers Meeting

The LSS Discussion Group for Caregivers will be meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Come for friendly visiting, encouragement and coffee. Niijii Radio Fund Drive

Community radio station KKWE, Niijii is holding a fund drive July 28-Aug. 2. A ‘Very Berry Social’ will be held July 31 from 3-8 p.m. and includes berry desserts, ice cream, hoop competitions, bouncy houses, door prizes and music. On August second they will be hosting a game day. Competitions will include tug-o-war, kick ball and horseshoe tournaments. Game day registration available at 607 Main Ave., Callaway, Minn. Tuesdays in the Park

Habitat for Humanity serves burger, hot dogs and brats each Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. before the concerts. Funds will assist in providing affordable housing for needy families. Tuesdays in the Park concerts begin at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair. Sports physicals

Essentia Health St. Mary’s Detroit Lakes Clinic hosts sports physicals. Essentia Health staff will be on hand specifically to see student athletes and fulfill the requirements for sports physicals on Aug. 6 from 1-4:30 p.m., Aug. 7 from 8-11:30 a.m. and Aug. 12 from 1-4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. For those unable to attend at these times, sports physicals can be scheduled with any pediatrician or Family Medicine provider at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Detroit Lakes Clinic by calling 847-5611.

Crafters welcome

Crafters, cardmakers and scrapbookers are invited to meet every Tuesday throughout the summer from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Senior Citizens Center, located in the DLCCC. Jasper’s Theater celebrates 10 seasons

Jasper’s Theater, Park Rapids, is celebrating its’ 10th season of bringing its’ own unique brand of family entertainment to this region.   The theater provides a 2-hour music, magic, comedy and dance variety show featuring four generations of one family, as well as some of the finest entertainers in the region. Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre Play

The Prairie Fire Children’s Theater will be back in the Lake Park Audubon School August 18-23 for a production of “Peter Pan.” Auditions will be held the first days, and everyone gets a part! Kids aged 7 and up are welcome. Two public performances will be held Friday, Aug. 22 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 23 at 1:30 p.m. The fee is $30 per child or $50 per family.
