Sunday, April 4

-Easter services

Lakes Area Vineyard Church hosts four services on Easter morning: Sunrise Service at 7 a.m., 8:30, 10 and 11:30. Nursery and a special interactive Children's Ministry will be provided during all services except the 7 a.m. service.

Monday, April 5

-Jose Cole Circus

The Jose Cole Circus begins at 7 p.m. in the Kent Freeman Arena. Tickets are available at the door starting at 6. Cost is $9 for adults (12 and over) and $7 for children. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus #3166.

Tuesday, April 6

-Student/parent orientation

The fifth grade student/parent orientation open house is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Middle School. There will be a half an hour program in the auditorium and then parents and students are encouraged to tour the building. Students may also register that night.

-Foodborne illness workshop

A workshop on foodborne illnesses and safe food handling practices will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, DL. The workshop is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Call Stacey Wixo at 218-233-5210 to register.

-Dog sledder tales

Author and adventurer Pam Flowers will tell tales of her dog sledding adventures in the Arctic and Minnesota at 7 p.m. in the DL Library. It is free and open to the public.

-High Mileage Club

High Mileage Club meets at noon in Community Alliance Church, DL. All those 55 and older are invited for a pot blessing lunch. There will be a short message by Pastor Jim Hinson from First Baptist Church and special music by Mark Kiser. This is an inter-denominational fellowship.

-Wednesday, April 7

Ojibwe language class

An Ojibwe language class is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes library. It is a potluck supper, and free and open to the public.

-Women's discussion group

A new discussion group for women of all ages meets from 9 to 11 p.m. This group is for serious-minded females who want to get together and bring ideas. What is your passion? For more information, contact 847-9849.

-MAC/NAPS

MAC/NAPS distribution will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, DL. For more information, call Becker County Human Services at 847-5628 ext. 5397.

-Palin/Bachmann rally

A bus will be leaving from Detroit Lakes to go to the Minneapolis Convention Center for the Sarah Palin/Michelle Bachmann Rally at 7 a.m. and returning in the evening. Call 850-4774 for details and to register.

-Thursday, April 8

Genealogical Society

Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. The meeting is open to the public and anyone interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting. -BC Republicans

The Becker County Republicans meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library. Contact LaVonne at 218-847-6339 if any questions.

-$5 jewelry show

St. Mary's Innovis volunteers host a Masquerade $5 Jewelry Show from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the hospital front lobby.

-Detroit Mountain meeting

The Detroit Mountain Focus Group hosts a meeting from 7-8 p.m. in the M-State Conference Room to take public input on what activities the community would like to see at the mountain property.

Girl Scouts fund-raiser

The Frazee Girls Scouts spaghetti feed and silent auction fundraiser is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Frazee Event Center.

Saturday, April 10

-Ham, meatball supper

First Lutheran Church, Audubon, hosts a ham and meatball supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Adults are $8, ages 5-15 are $4 and ages 4 and under are free. There will also be a quilt raffle.

-Clifford Literacy Special

Frazee-Vergas ECFE, along with Prairie Public Broadcasting, hosts a free community event, Clifford Literacy Special, from 10 a.m.-noon in the Frazee-Vergas Elementary School. Children 0-8 years old with their parent/guardians are encouraged to attend this activity. Some of the activities include Alphabet Bingo, Lucky Dog's Reading Therapy, Storytime, Clifford snack, cheering with the cheerleaders. Each child receives a free book and the special will end with a free concert by Phil Baker.

-Community rummage sale

Lake Park Audubon Community Ed sponsors its annual rummage sale. If you are interested in having a table, cost is $10. Call 439-3303 to reserve a spot.

-Guitar quartet concert

The Minneapolis Guitar Quartet performs free at 11 a.m. in Detroit Lakes Library and at 7:30 p.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. With the passion, style, and musical sophistication borrowing from the best chamber music and string quartet traditions, the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet has successfully made its case as one of the world's leading guitar ensembles since its founding in 1986.

-Swedish Heritage Society

The Swedish Cultural Heritage Society of the Red River Valley holds its annual spring meeting and pancake supper at 4 p.m. in the Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo. Lois Schneider will be presenting the program "Swedish Roots -- Not to be Forgotten: Clues to Documenting more of your Heritage." It is a free-will offering. Everyone welcome.
