Ojibwe language class
An Ojibwe language class is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes library. It is a potluck supper, and free and open to the public.

Learn about Water Carnival
Learn all about the Water Carnival at Detroit Lakes Library at 2 p.m. Carrie Johnston from the Becker County Historical Society will give a presentation that includes fun hands-on activities on the history of the Detroit Lakes Water Carnival. DL Women of Today
The Detroit Lakes Women of Today is celebrating Founder's Day. Interested women and their families are invited to a potluck picnic at 6 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Park (by the City Beach and the Pavilion).
PEO Chapter FG
P.E.O. Chapter FG meets 7 p.m. in the home of Elaine Graf. The program will be given by Linda Sheryak.
Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts a wildlife excursion from 10 a.m. to noon. Explore the refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of Tamarac. Car caravan to select sites.
BC Republicans meet
The monthly meeting for the Becker County Republicans is at 7 p.m. in the DL Public Library.
Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. The meeting is open to the public, and anyone interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting. Historical Society, Genealogy Society open house
The Becker County Historical Society and Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society host s joint open house from 2-4 p.m. in the Becker County History Museum. Attendees will be given the opportunity to learn how both societies assist in historical and genealogical research requests. This open house will feature refreshments from the recently printed Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society Cookbook.
Trail Hike Thru
North Country Trail Thru-Hike No. 9, a 3.1-mile hike, begins at 9:15 a.m. The starting point is where the North Country Trail crosses Paul Bunyan State Forest Steamboat Forest RD 1.2 miles east of Thorpe Township Hall. http://www.northcountrytrail.org/itm/thru.htm for detailed instructions to the starting point from several towns or call 218-675-5448. The hike goes from Steamboat Forest RD southeast to Spur 1 passing by the historic Thorpe Tower Site.
Cogger/Leu family reunion
The Cogger/Leu family reunion is from 11:30 a. m. to 8 p. m. in Lake Park American Legion. The theme is "Entertainment," with prizes awarded for best talent show, followed by an auction and live music.
Sunday, July 11
The DL American Legion Auxiliary serves breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon. Build your own omelet, French toast, pancakes or biscuits and gravy. Everyone is welcome.
Country Church Celebration
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Big Toad Lake, hosts its 103rd Annual Country Church Celebration with a 10 a.m. worship, 11:30 picnic and an auction following the picnic. Picnic cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children 6-12 and 5 and under or adults over 80 are free. There will be games for the children also.
Zion Church 125th anniversary
The Zion Lutheran Church, DL, celebrates 125 years during worship and Holy Communion at 9:30 a.m., with a potluck and time for sharing afterward.
