The Lake Park Garden Club meets at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Park City Center. Garden Talk is by Connie Kossick, program by Dorothy Harsh on orchids, and lunch is by Connie Kossick. Anyone interested in gardening is invited to come to the meetings. April meeting will feature beekeeper Winnie Gillespe.

Career fair, training expo
A Lakes Area Career Fair and Training Expo is from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Central Lakes College Brainerd Campus. The day is for anyone evaluating career and training options, from 50-year-old dislocated worker to the 18-year-old new high school graduate.

Life's Journey: Nearing the End
Hospice of the Red River Valley hosts a Lunch and Learn, Life's Journey: Nearing the End, at noon in the hospice office, DL. Cost for lunch is $6. Rossman School honors
Rossman School hosts a celebration from 2:30-3:15 p.m. in honor of receiving the 2008 Minnesota Academic Excellence Foundation Spotlight Award, as well as a "Day at the Museum" -- an Art Master's open house.

Alzheimer's Support Group

Read with a dog
R.E.A.D (Reading Assistance Education Dogs) to a certified therapy dog from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Detroit Lakes Library. This event takes place the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Read with the dog 10 times for a free book. Pre-registration is not required but you may call ahead (847-2168) to reserve a 10 minute session with the therapy dog.
The Becker County Republicans annual convention is at 6:30 p.m. in the new Jury Assembly Room, 3rd floor at the Becker County Court House. For more information, contact Tracy at 218-820-1299. Anyone interested is welcome.
Want to research your family history? Aren't sure where to start? Come to Beginning Genealogy from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in DL Library. Explore ways to find information beyond births, deaths and marriages. Discover genealogical databases found on the Library's Web site as well as other online sources of information using a laptop computer. The class is free, but space is limited. ULTRA Snowmobile Club
ULTRA Snowmobile Club holds its last general membership meeting of the season at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Club. Voting for officers and board members will take place during this meeting.

Dewey benefit supper
A pancake supper with separate bake sale to benefit Mahnomen Deputy Christopher Dewey is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Mahnomen High School cafeteria.
The sixth annual Sharing the Tradition of Storytelling event is at 7 in the Frazee Event Center. Participants include storytellers Patricia Nunn, Michael Cotter, JoAnne Lower and John Peterson. Refreshments will be served. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Come in to Detroit Lakes Library from 10 a.m. to noon to get a taste of what the Internet has to offer scrapbooking enthusiasts. Basic computer and mouse skills are needed. Class size is limited, so call the library to pre-register at 847-2168.
