Harold William "Bill" Pedersen, 68, of Cass Lake, Minn., passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2010, surrounded by loved ones at his home under hospice care.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. A lunch will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at the American Legion in Cass Lake.
Harold William Pedersen was born the son of Harold S. and Francis S. (Allen) Pedersen on September 3, 1942 in Windom, Minn. From 1962 until 1964, he served in the United States Army, and was deployed to fight in the Vietnam War. He fought bravely, and in 1964, he was honorably discharged and returned home.
On June 1, 1964, he married Jane Marie French, and together, they raised their four children.
Harold was an avid mechanic in his young life, and traveled the country as a truck driver-owner-operator for many years. Later on, he served as a heavy equipment mechanic, did sandblasting, bodywork, and painting on various styles of trucks, tractors, and other heavy machinery.
Later in life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and playing with the pets he and his wife shared. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and was constantly surrounded by the love of both his family and friends. His wife, Jane, was constant in her love and affection for him, and they celebrated their 42nd anniversary this past June.
Surviving Harold are his wife Jane, of Cass Lake; four children, Jeff French and Roberta Huber, both of Cass Lake, Dale Pedersen of Park Rapids and Rebecca Pedersen of Osage; six grandchildren, Beau and Jacqueline French, both of Park Rapids, Cynthia and Autumn Huber, both of Cass Lake, and Teia and Kami Pedersen, both of Osage; and one great grandchild, Lane, of Park Rapids. He is also survived by five sisters and one brother, Arlene (Gerald) Colbert, Maggie (Dave) Mortenson, Nora (Bill) Bailey, Lila (James) Wayslow, Judy (Kent) Campbell and James Pedersen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were both his parents and a brother, Gordon Pedersen.
