Hawley man sentenced for motor bike thefts
Aaron Thomas Veralrud, 22, of 24402 43rd Ave. N., Hawley was sentenced to prison Wednesday in Becker County District Court for second-degree burglary of a dwelling and third-degree burglary, both felonies. Another felony burglary charge was dropped in a plea agreement.
On July 29, 2007, he and two other men stole three motorbikes from two residences in Lake Park, according to court records. Veralrud admitted they took the motorbikes without permission.
He received a stayed sentence in November of 2007, but later was sent to prison on a Clay County file.
At his request, in order to clean up outstanding files, District Judge Peter Irvine on Wednesday sentenced him to 18 months in prison on the first charge and 15 months on the second charge, to be served at the same time as his existing 60-month prison term.
