Hazel's children all knew they were her fa-vorite, and she knew when to call each one: Marilynn for the best haircuts; Marietta for medical needs; Maryann for great laughs, playing cards and helping her at home; Dennis for getting anything to work again or move something; Marion for making her home 'mom's home' for the past six months and getting the lucky bingo table; and Dale for his daily phone call she waited for.

Surviving Hazel are her six children, Marilynn Sparling, Detroit Lakes, Marietta( Johnnie) Stowers, Vergas, Maryann Cusey, Tracy, Minn., Dennis Herk, Vergas, Marion(Steve) Sleen, Vergas and Dale Herk, Frazee; eight grandchil-dren; 16 great grandchil-dren: five brothers and sisters, Floyd (Lois) Peterson, Middle River, Shirley Stacey, California, Lila (Duane) Knutson, Bagley, Ronnie (Sheila) Peterson, Middle River and Elmer Peterson, Twin Valley.
