Herzog named Co-MVP of HOL
Detroit Lakes’ senior quarterback, Michael Herzog has garnered a pair of postseason awards, as he was named as the Heart O’Lakes Northern Conference MVP for the second consecutive season and also was named to the Minnesota Vikings All-State Team, which honors all seniors.
Herzog shared the MVP honors with Park Rapids’ senior LB/WR Noah MacPherson, as the Laker QB rushed for a team-high 1,216 yards on 196 carries and 20 rushing touchdowns, while throwing for 714 yards, four TDs by going 47-135.
The Laker senior finished as DL’s all-time leading scorer and second in all-time rushing.
Senior Jarett Nosal was named the HOL’s Most Valuable Offensive Back, along with Perham’s Payton Jordahl.
Nosal netted 1,041 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, while averaging 8.2 yards per carry.
Laker senior Kirby Siewert was also named the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman, with Flint Motschenbacher taking Co-Coach of the Year honors, along with Park Rapids’ Aaron Morris.
Those DL players named All-HOL included Herzog, Nosal, Siewert and seniors Casey Paskey (WR/CB), Dylan Bremseth (LB/TE) and Mike Renteria (OT/DT).
Pelican Rapids’ senior running back Ryan Bruggeman was the HOL Classic Conference’s MVP, as he was also named to the Vikings’ All-State Team.
