highway 34 rollover: Two injured in vehicle accident
Frosty roads are to blame for a rollover that sent two people to the hospital Friday morning. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 59-year-old John French of Ponsford, who was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy, was trying to pass another vehicle about seven miles east of Detroit Lakes on Highway 34 just after 7:30 a.m., when he spun out on the frosty road. According to the report, it crossed into the eastbound lane, struck a mailbox, then hit an approach, which caused the vehicle to flip into the ditch. French and his daughter, 40-year-old Carolyn French of Wolverton, were wearing their seat belts and were transported to a Detroit Lakes hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
