Hillsboro man injured in semi rollover
OAKES, N.D. - A 62-year-old man was injured south of here when his tractor trailer rolled over on Thursday afternoon, spilling fertilizer onto the roadway, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said in a release.
James Mooney, of Hillsboro, was driving southbound on Highway 1 near the South Dakota state line at 1:30 p.m. when his truck drifted onto the west shoulder and he overcorrected, the patrol said.
The truck and trailer rolled and came to a rest across both the north- and southbound lanes. Highway 1 was closed for roughly an hour while crews worked to clean up the spillage, the patrol said.
Mooney was wearing a seat belt and the roadway was dry at the time, the patrol said. He was transported to Oakes Community Hospital via ambulance. Oakes is about 60 miles south of Valley City.
The crash remains under investigation.
