Hit-and-run injures man riding lawn mower
A Fargo man was arrested Friday night for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries after striking a man on a riding lawn mower with his pickup truck.
According to a news release, Fargo Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run around 7:49 p.m. Friday. Witnesses said a pickup truck was eastbound in the 1800 block of 20th Avenue South. A man on a riding lawn mower drove onto the roadway and was struck by the pickup.
Witnesses said the man on the lawn mower, who was seriously injured, landed about 20 feet from the point of impact. The driver of the pickup drove away without checking on the victim.
Cody Joseph Larkin, 37, of Fargo, was later arrested. The case is still under investigation.
Sgt. Ross Renner identified the victim as 20-year-old William Vogel of Moorhead, who was taken to Innovis Hospital.
Hospital officials are respecting the family's wishes not to release any information about Vogel's condition at this time.
