Hjemkomst DVD release party is set for Aug. 20

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County invites the public to a celebration of the DVD release of “The Hjemkomst: Thirty Years Later,” set for Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. inside the Hjemkomst Center.

The reception is free and open to the public.The 11-minute documentary short about the 30th anniversary of the sailing of the Hjemkomst Viking ship premiered at the 2013 Fargo Film Festival and won the Prairie Spirit Award.

This film was made possible in part by the people of Minnesota through a grant funded by an appropriation to the Minnesota Historical Society from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, GOOD, Inc., and the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County.

The DVD is available for purchase at the Heritage Gift Shop and for viewing at the Hjemkomst Center. Proceeds of the DVD sales benefit the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County.

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County collects, preserves, interprets, and shares the history and culture of Clay County, Minnesota.

HCSCC also provides interpretation of the Hjemkomst Viking Ship, Hopperstad Stave Church Replica, and hosts traveling exhibits in 7,000 sq. feet of temporary exhibition space.
