Holt earns split decision over Corn in boxing ring
It was a literal slugfest in the Shooting Star Casino's main event in its Saturday's professional boxing card, as Detroit Lakes' Chris Holt out-slugged J.J. Corn on an eight-round split decision.
The two battled toe-to-toe through the eight rounds, with Corn handling the bout early, but Holt taking control later.
"It was a war," Holt said. "He was getting to me in the beginning, but after the third round, I started to relax and started to go back to basic boxing and then things started going my way.
"I kept beating him to the punch and my small combos were connecting. He is a tough guy and we both walked away from that fight knowing everyone in the crowd got to see a good scrap."
In other bouts, Leroy Wadena had a six-round draw with Zac Shumak, while Nick Whiting knocked out Mike Dempsy in the first round.
