Feb. 13, 1964-Jan. 3, 2014
Hope Korinta, 49, of Ogema, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Essentia Health Services in Fargo.
Hope Elizabeth Weed, the daughter of Charles and Katherine (Mawyer) Weed, was born February 13, 1964, in Towanda, Pa. She grew up in the Troy, Pa., area, where she graduated from high school.
Following graduation, Hope began her working career and started a family. She was employed as a Shop Vac builder and a fire safety inspector, among several other jobs. Hope also sold automobiles and worked in a paneling plant.
Over the years, Hope made her home between Pennsylvania and Minnesota. She and her son, Devon, settled in Minnesota in 2002.
Hope was capable of doing anything she set her mind to. This showed in her wide variety of jobs. She was a truck driver, lefse maker and test car driver, to name only a few. After several years of working at the Shooting Star Casino, Hope became employed as a manager at the White Earth Credit Union, located in the casino.
While working at the casino, Hope met Allen Korinta. The couple was united in marriage on August 8, 2012, in Mobridge, S.D.
Even though Hope was very outgoing and touched everyone she encountered, she still had a mystery about her. She enjoyed nature and being in the outdoors, no matter if it was deer hunting, watching the hummingbirds or simply tending to her flowers. She was always raising or growing something, like wild turkeys, pheasants and calla lilies.
Another one of Hope's favorite things to do was shop, especially all the clearance items. She would always find a good deal.
Surviving Hope are her husband, Allen, of Ogema; two sons, Sgt. Scott Lee House Jr., of Texas and Devon (Ashley Cherf) Swartz of Ogema; a daughter, Lenda Duckner, of Tennessee; her mother, Katherine (James "PaPa") Morgan of Troy, Pa.; two brothers, Larry Weed and Garry Weed, both of Athens, Pa.; one sister, Rebecca Phares of Gillette, Pa.; Allen's children, Allen Jr. (Cheryl) of Mortons Gap, Ky., Michael (Jennifer) of Winterhaven, Fla., Edward "Joey," of Detroit Lakes and Wilbert "Willy" of Valley City, N.D.; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Her father preceded her in death.
A Time of Gathering was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, with a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m., in the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Mahnomen. Arrangements were entrusted to the Anderson Family Funeral Home of Mahnomen (www.andersonfamilyfh.com).
