Hornet boys topple Trojans
Intensity and focus by the Frazee boys' basketball team led to a 45-40 victory against Barnesville Friday.
Hornet senior Daniel Janu led the way with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Cory Wokasch played a great game on the defensive end of the floor.
"Communication is key for us being successful on the defensive end and it starts with Cory," said Frazee head coach Jason Reierson.
Wokasch also had eight points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Matt Tangen handled the defensive pressure of Barnesville and allowed Frazee to grind out some good possessions.
"He took the ball hard to the basket and scored eight points with two three pointers," Reierson added. Tangen also had four rebounds, three assists, a steal and a charge.
Beau Hanson hit a couple of threes in the first half and ended with seven points.
Cody Nordquist had the first bucket of the game and did a nice job on the defensive end of the floor.
Zack Ziegler kept his seven-game streak of making at least one three going, making a solo, and also contributed to the team effort on defense.
Wokasch stepped up and hit two crucial free throws to seal the game late.
Frazee (6-13) will play at Hawley (11-7) Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
