Hornet cagers pull out close victory versus Mahnomen
The Frazee boys’ basketball team has started their season with a 1-2 record, with the latest being a 72-51 loss to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Monday.
The Hornets’ victory came over Mahnomen 79-78, as senior forward Cory Wokasch netted 34 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
It was junior guard Chance Willette’s free throw with .8 of a second remaining in regulation which sealed the one-point triumph for the Hornets.
Junior center Brady Bellefeuille knocked down 26 points and had 10 rebounds, along with five blocks in the win.
“Austin Torma was a rock in the middle, both defensively and offensively,” said Frazee head coach Jason Reierson.
Torma added 11 rebounds and seven points.
Zach Nelson’s 15 points propelled Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton to a 72-51 victory in Frazee Monday.
Brady Bellefeuille led the way for Frazee with 16 points.
Brock Stalboerger chipped in with 10 points for the Rebels.
The Hornets opened the season with a 59-49 loss to Menahga Nov. 22.
Frazee will host Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal (0-3) Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m.
