Hornets lead HOL
The Frazee baseball team has strung together six wins in a row at the right time of the season.
The Hornets traveled to Barrett, where they squared off against another conference opponent and picked up a sweep by the scores of 5-4 and 16-8.
They followed that up with a sweep of Breckenridge Thursday by the scores of 11-4 and 18-11.
The Hornets had to overcome a little adversity, because WCA hit the ball well in both games.
In game one, WCA had seven hits and scored four, three of them earned runs against strong right-hander Matt Brower.
Frazee answered with 14 hits of their own and topped the Knights with a final score of 5-4.
Dylan Stender led the Hornet offense, going 2-3 with a walk. Brower also helped the cause with three base hits.
In the second game, the Knights seemed even more determined to beat the Hornets, and scored five runs in the first three innings.
Frazee quickly rebounded and was leading by one run after the fourth inning.
After the fourth inning Jake Galbrecht took the mound and cooled off WCA's hitters.
Galbrecht threw three innings without allowing a single base runner.
"These two wins help increase Frazee's chances of winning the conference," said Hornet head coach Bryan Gillespie.
