Host families needed for exchange students; group forming soon
CCI Greenheart, a nonprofit agency, is searching for volunteer host families in Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas for exchange students arriving in late August.
All of their students are 15-18 year old, speak English, have medical insurance and their own spending money.
Local Coordinator Dolores Welle is organizing a group in the area and hopes to find additional families who are interested in hosting students.
Students attend the local high schools in the area and arrive in late August – just in time for the start of school. They stay with local families through early June, and participate in extracurricular activities, family activities and eat meals together with the family.
Volunteer host families provide a room (which may be shared), meals and a caring environment for their student. There is no typical family background, so families can be single parents, empty nesters, retired couples, families with young children/teens or no children and even single individuals with special permission. The most important criteria is to have kind and loving families who are flexible and open-minded.
