Hubbard County looks for its 'most influential'
PARK RAPIDS - The Hubbard County Genealogy Society has taken on the task of compiling the county's 150 Most Influential People, Places and Events.
It is asking for submissions of people, places, or events in Hubbard County that you, personally, think has had the most influence on the community's history, and why
Of great interest are the pioneering families of the area. Several names have been suggested but very few family articles have been submitted. We are also encouraging students groups, and other organizations to participate. Nominate your choices for the people, places, and events that make us who we are by sending your articles to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailing them to the HCGS at PO Pox 327, Park Rapids.
Submission forms are available at the Park Rapids Library. More information is available at the group's Web site: www.rootsweb.com/~mnhgs.
A selection committee is also being formed to help process the submissions and prepare them for publication. Anyone interested is asked to contact Karen Danks at 218-732-0143.
Statehood Week Festivities, May 11-18, include events in communities across Minnesota. Look for the publication in early May. It will feature a profile of the 150 selected nominees, along with excerpts from the submissions and the name of the nominators. Additional copies will be available at the Hubbard County Historical Museum over the summer.
