Humane Society founder wins Harley
The Humane Society of the Lakes is very proud to announce all the winners of its first Harley Davidson raffle.
The 2009 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide Motorcycle grand prize winner has a long connection to the area humane society. Cyndi Anderson started the organization in Becker County 20 years ago, by taking phone calls day and night about lost and stray cats or dogs. Although she has not been involved with the board, or the day-to-day operations of the shelter for some time, she has continued to support the society through the many fundraisers held throughout the year.
The following people were also winners from the raffle: Second place $500 winner -- Kelly Myers of Lake Park; 5 third place winners of $100 each -- Loren Krause of Detroit lakes; Andrew Richard of Pelican Rapids; Velva Strand of Detroit Lakes; Francis Cormier of Detroit Lakes, and Susan Haarstad of Detroit Lakes.
The Humane Society of the Lakes thanks everyone involved for making this a very successful fundraiser including Lakes Liquor, Central Market, Zorbaz and Lakeside, all of whom allowed the humane society to display the bike at their locations during the summer and sell tickets to their patrons.
Special appreciation goes to Hotel Shoreham for hosting the raffle drawing and annual Shelterfest. The humane society raised $43,613.
