Hundreds of Otter Tail County residents lose power in Wednesday morning storm
About 2,400 customers in a dozen towns in Otter Tail and Grant Counties lost power in the storm that blew through Wednesday morning.
Customers lost power around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Strong winds blew tree branches into a 40-kv transmission line and a number of smaller distribution lines, causing outages at several substations.
Customers in the communities of Henning, Ottertail, Perham, Deer Creek, Foxhome, Ashby, Vergas, Fergus Falls, Battle Lake, Elbow Lake, and Dalton experienced outages lasting between 27 minutes and about 3 hours.
By noon Wednesday, Otter Tail Power Company crews had restored power on all transmission lines.
Any customer who still is without power should call Otter Tail Power Company at 800-257-4044 to report their outage.
Otter Tail Power Co. employees continue to make repairs to the electrical system to restore it to a fully operational condition.
"We remind customers to call 800-257-4044 to report damage to transmission or distribution lines and not to go near any downed wire," said Mike VanVoorhis, Fergus Falls customer service manager.
