Inez L. Erickson
Inez L. Erickson, 84, Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Inez was born on June 8, 1923, to Wesley and Inga (Lien) Miller in Barron, Wis. She was raised and educated in Barron. Inez moved with her family in the 1940s to the Waubun area. She helped on the family farm until her marriage to Carl Erickson on Feb. 5, 1942. They made their home in the Wadena area. Then in the mid 1960s, they moved to the Detroit Lakes area, before moving to California for a few years. Inez and Carl were baptized Jehovah Witness in 1990, before moving to Texas, where Inez still has many friends. They loved to travel and did for many years. Inez returned to Detroit Lakes in 2004 to be with her family and friends. The last years of her life she enjoyed quilting, having a garden, flower garden and canning the harvest. One of her favorite things to do was to play cards with family and friends. She also loved to ride motorcycles, four-wheelers, snowmobiles and speedboats. Her favorite music was polka.
Inez is survived by her daughter, Sonja (Joe) Leitheiser, Detroit Lakes, and 10 grandchildren.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; daughter, Llewellyn Jorgenson; sons, Bradley, DeWayne and Leslie.
A Memorial service is Saturday, June 7, at 1 p.m. in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Detroit Lakes.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service in Kingdom Hall.
