Irene L. Oien, 96, of Audubon, died Thursday, March 11, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17 at David-Donehower Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 18 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in rural Audubon, with Reverend Paul Peterson, officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Irene L. Oien was born to Edward E. and Minnie K. (Matson) Peterson on September 11, 1914 in Lake Eunice Township, rural Detroit Lakes. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1932.
As a young woman, she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone in Detroit Lakes.
Irene was united in marriage to Rudolph I. Oien on March 12, 1939 in Audubon. They farmed in rural Audubon and Irene also worked for National Tea Grocery in Detroit Lakes.
Rudy died March 6, 1990.
Surviving Irene are many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
