Irene Wagner

Irene Wagner, 81, of Moorhead, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Eventide Retirement Community.

Irene Rose Krumm was born the daughter of Joseph and Ann Marie (Braun) Krumm on November 13, 1928 in Linton, N.D. She grew up assisting her parents on the family farm and attending school in the Linton area. On November 19, 1947 Irene was united in marriage with Aloyes Wagner and they made their first home on a farm west of Linton.

In 1957, Irene and her family moved to West Fargo, where they resided until 1975, at which time they moved to Phoenix, Ariz. In 1991 they returned to the part of the country where they had started out, and settled into their home on Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids. In 2005 they moved from the lake to their home in Moorhead.

In addition to raising eight children, Irene had many occupations including farming, waitress work, assisting in an elementary school lunchroom and as a campground host/country store manager in the mountains near Flagstaff, Ariz. Irene was also well known for vegetable gardening and growing beautiful flowers, additionally her cooking, baking and canning skills produced many fine meals for family and friends alike.

During holidays and special occasions, you could always count on Irene to have made plenty of kuchen (a longtime family recipe) and other delicious goodies. Whether you were a guest in her home for a few days or just for dinner, you always enjoyed excellent food and wonderful hospitality all with her loving touch.

Surviving Irene are her husband of 62 years, Aloyes Wagner; her children, Duane (Eileen) Wagner of Fargo, Richard Wagner of Fargo, Terry (Erliss) Wagner of Fargo, Dee (Doug) McBride of Phoenix, Gary (Julie) Wagner of Concord, Calif., Sue (Wayne) Hoeck of Fargo, Cindie (Ken) Levie of Phoenix and Brad (Laura) Wagner of Mancos, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Neil (Tess) Krumm of Fargo and Dennis (Gladys) Krumm of Mandan, N.D.

Preceding Irene in death were her parents and a brother, Earl Krumm.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, followed by a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moorhead.

The funeral mass is set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 5 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with a luncheon reception to follow.

Interment will take place at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, is assisting the family with arrangements.
