Itasca Park to host Valentine's Day ski
Itasca State Park cross-country skiers can spend part of Valentine's Day at Itasca State Park during a special event being organized by the Department of Natural Resources.
On Thursday, Feb. 14, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., people can ski along the trails lit by kerosene lanterns and moonlight.
The DNR also will be providing a campfire and free marshmallows so people can warm-up after skiing and enjoy some Valentine treats.
The ski trail begins at the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center. People should dress according to the weather. If snow conditions are not suitable for skiing, the route will be opened for walking. In case of poor weather, the event will be cancelled. The park does not have rental skis available.
A Minnesota Ski Pass is needed for skiers 16 years and older and a vehicle permit is required to enter the park, both available for sale at the park.
