It's back to school time!

Summer vacation is rapidly coming to a close, and before we know it the school year will be underway.

It's time to put away the water wings and the t-ball equipment, and turn our attention back to academics.

That's not to say students can't continue reading fun books like the first one highlighted below, but parents will be getting a bit more serious about what's best for their children intellectually. That's where the second book highlighted below comes in.

The staff at Detroit Lakes Library hopes everyone has a fun and productive school year!.

Louise the Big Cheese is determined to make the grade in school this year and that means straight A's. But she's stuck with the toughest teacher ever. Will Louise make the grade?

"The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind," by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson.

The authors explain the new science of how a child's brain is wired and how it matures, along with advice on how to put this information to work in raising happier, calmer children.
