Jacobson Dairy a 2009 Farm Family
Seventy-three families from around the state were named "2009 Farm Family of the Year" by the University of Minnesota and were recognized in a ceremony on Aug. 6.
The Farm Family Recognition Program honors farm families from throughout Minnesota for their contributions to the agriculture industry and their local communities.
The 2009 farm family for Becker County was Jacobson Dairy.
Jeramie began farming on his own at his parents' home in Detroit Lakes. In 1995, he purchased the farm and has built the heard from 17 cows to 50.
Jacobson Dairy currently owns 230 acres and farms approximately 350 acres of owned and rented land.
They raise all of their own heifers and sell the bulls. They also raise corn, wheat, soybeans, and alfalfa.
Jeramie, his wife, Kathy, and their children, Hannah and Ethan all work together on the farm to be successful.
Jeramie and Kathy serve on the Becker County Dairy Association and are active in the Young Cooperatives of AMPI.
