JAMES EDWARD YLINIEMI

James Edward Yliniemi, 76, of Frazee, passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D.

James was born Nov. 10, 1937 in Toad Lake Township, Becker County. He graduated from Frazee High School in 1956.

He was drafted into the Army in 1958. He made his home in the Osage/Snellman area. James worked for Honey-well, was a mail carrier, and owned the Snellman Store. He was a skilled carpenter who crafted beautiful custom cabinets.

James was an active member of Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church, the Finnish American Historical Society, chairman of Wolf Lake Township and Fire Warden.

Family was extremely important to James. He loved his children and grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits.

He is survived by his four children, Cindy Hart of Park Rapids, Joy (Gene) Kraushaar of Park Rapids, Roger (Robyn) Yliniemi of West Fargo, N.D. and Joe (Lisa) Yliniemi of Phoenix, Ariz.; six siblings, Roy, Helen, Elmer, Hazel, Hulda and Patricia; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, also one hour prior to the church on Saturday.
