Former Detroit Lakes resident James "Jim" Rieger, 83, of Pelican Rapids, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4 at David-Donehower Funeral Home, 609 U.S. Hwy. 10 East in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5 in the funeral home, with Father Todd Arends officiating.
Jim, the son of Martin and Esther (nee Adrie) Reger, was born November 11, 1930 in Wadena. He served in the Army after World War II, before returning home to Minnesota. He worked in a variety of occupations, but is best known as the owner of Rieger Repair in Detroit Lakes.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Violet (nee Honeck) Rieger of Pelican Rapids; daughter Lane Soydara of Florida; son David (Valerie) Rieger of Indiana; and daughter Lori (Damian) Baker of England.
Jim is also survived by siblings Glenn (Marilyn) Reger, Patricia (Robert) Bogart and Richard (Carol) Reger as well as sister-in-law Elaine Reger, all of Minnesota; grandsons James Soydara of Florida, David (Jaclyn) Rieger of Illinois and Daniel Rieger of Indiana; granddaughter Nancy Soydara of Florida; and a host of friends and family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Robert Reger and William Reger; and sister-in-law, Sharon Reger.
