James "Jimbo" M. Watson, 62, of Duluth, Minn., died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Essentia-St. Mary's, with his family by his side.
Jimbo was born to Gene and Rosemary Watson on December 4, 1950 in Minneapolis. He graduated from Osseo High School and then attended St. Cloud State University, where he was a national champion in gymnastics.
He served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Jimbo was a computer tech, working for G.E. and Smith Microtech in Minneapolis. He moved to Duluth in May of 2012 to be closer to his grandchildren, the pride of his life, Aidan and Kaitryn.
Jimbo loved the outdoors, hunting, golf, gardening, fishing and he enjoyed teaching people to fish.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene and his nephew, Bryan Thomas.
Jimbo is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Jim) Madigan of Duluth and his son, Tony (Ruchi) Watson of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Aidan and Kaitryn; his mother, Rosemary (Claris) Greenland of Detroit Lakes; siblings, Larry Watson, Alan Watson, Diane (Paul) Thomas and Dan (Beth) Watson; and his nephew, Cole Watson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29 in the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St., Duluth. If you are going to send flowers, please send a plant.
