April 17, 1952-Nov. 4, 2010
James F. Worm, better known as J.W., died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 4, 2010, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
James was born the second son of Dr. George and Ruth Worm on April 17, 1952 in Milwaukee, Wis. He grew up and went to school in Wauwatosa, Wis. In his early adult life, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Milwaukee, driving ambulances. Working with state and national associations, he was instrumental in establishing the accreditation standards in this field. He then started his own business, marketing ambulances.
In 1985, he moved to Detroit Lakes and found his "dream" job, working as vendor coordinator and director of sponsorship sales for the WE Fest organization. After 25 years, Jim would say his co-workers, vendors and sponsors were more than friends, they were family. He was also a proud member of the Detroit Lakes Lions Club, which recently honored him with the President's Award for Lifetime Service.
Jim was generous, very creative, with a great sense of humor and will be missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister, Julie.
Surviving Jim are his beautiful wife, Marietta; stepchildren, Joseph Rey, Josephine and Jackielou; and grandchild, Angel. He is also survived by his seven brothers and sisters, Jackie, John, Susie, Mary, his twin Jane, Cathy and Tom; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 in Sacred Heart Church, 202 W. Maple Ave., Frazee, followed by a reception at the Soo Pass Ranch (WE Fest).
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the DL Lions Club or Hospice.
