Dorothy Jane Lauer passed away in her sleep in Paradise Valley, Ariz., on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
Janie was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. She was happiest when she was joined by her family at her lake home in Detroit Lakes. She enjoyed a long life with her loving husband and best friend, Jack. She passed away two days prior to their 67th wedding anniversary.
Jane was the president of the Bismarck Library Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Bismarck Hospital and president of the Alpha Phi Sorority while attending the University of Minnesota.
She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Helen Guthunz of St. Paul.
She is survived by Jack and three loving children, Stephen (Jean) of Santa Fe,
N.M., Jim (Susan Levine) of San Francisco, Calif., and Susie of Ketchum, Idaho. Also surviving her are five treasured grandchildren: Christie, Ben and Caitlin Lauer; Stephen and Andrew Link.
A family service will be held in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Tuesday. Dec. 11. Her remains will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Bismarck next to her dear mother-in-law and special friend, Mary Lauer. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Bismarck Public Library, Hospice of the West in Phoenix, Ariz., or to the American Cancer Society.
