Jane Rogstad

Jane K. Rogstad, 97, passed away on Saturday. February 2, 2013 at the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Jane was born to Harry and Genevieve (Schutt) Protzeller on September 29, 1915 in Thief River Falls.

Jane received a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. She married Kent S. Rogstad in Fairmont, Minn., on September 26, 1938. They moved to Detroit Lakes after their marriage.

She married George Hawkins on May 8, 2002 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Jane and Kent had four children, David Rogstad, Diana Bomberg, Peter Rogstad and Christina Rogstad.

Jane worked as an interior designer, radio host and homemaker. She was a founding member of the Damien's Society and the 50 Club. She was an active artist and painted in watercolor, pastels and acrylics.

Jane's sense of adventure was fuelled by her passion for traveling. She traveled extensively around the world -- Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Europe, China and Russia. She was always talking about her trips and where she was going next. She also liked to entertain friends and family.

Jane was always busy and was involved in many activities during her life. She had a passion for life and enjoyed every minute of it.

Surviving Jane are her sister Betty and her children Peter (Anna) Rogstad, Diana (Frank) Bomberg and Christina Rogstad (Ross Brown); seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her first husband Kent Rogstad and her second husband George Hawkins; her son David; grandchildren Michael and Becky; and her siblings, Helen, Harry and Edward.
