Jaycees take third in Babe Ruth tournament

The Detroit Lakes Jaycees placed third in the Lakes Region Babe Ruth Tournament in Audubon.

The DL squad finished 3-2 in tournament play, beating Lake Park-Audubon 15-1, Pelican Rapids 11-0 and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 12-5.

The Jaycess fell to Hawley twice by the scores of 74 and 12-3.

Travis Dorff picked up wins against LP-A and DGF.

"He's been our go-to pitcher all year," said Jaycees head coach Mike Even.

Kyle Singer pitched a no-hitter against Pelican Rapids, while having good control and five putouts in the game.

Stephan Boehm pitched well enough to win against Hawley, but DL couldn't muster enough offense.

Leading hitters for the tournament included Alex Ziegler, Brady Wilberg, Kirk McLeod, Jacob Johnson, Casey Fonder and Brennen Benscooter.

The Jaycee's finished the season with an 11-9 mark.
