Salmela exhibit opens
An exhibition of Finnish-American architect David Salmela's hand-made models and large-scale photographs of his finished buildings opens today at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. The 2008-09 Broadway in Fargo at the Gate City Bank Theatre-Fargodome season is almost here. "Chicago," to be presented tonight at 7:30 p.m., is the first show of the season as well as the last opportunity to subscribe! LEGOs at the Library
Detroit Lakes Library hosts a "LEGOs at the Library" event for kids at 4 p.m. Participants can bring their own blocks or use the materials provided by the Library. Snacks and prizes will be provided. Kid's creations will be displayed for a month in the Library. This event is geared toward children in kindergarten through grade five.
"Music Therapy with Ginny McDougall" will be presented at 2 p.m. in Diamond Willow, 1558 Randolph Road, Detroit Lakes, in "The LinK."
The Lakes Area Community Concert Band holds its first fall rehearsal from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Senior High band room. Gene Gaffney is directing. Doors will be open by 6:30. Fall Foliage Tour
The 412 Lakes Chapter of the Minnesota Region of Antique Automobile Club of America is hosting the club's 60th Fall Foliage Tour. Today's tour leaves at 1 p.m. from The ClubHouse Hotel, and will encompass Detroit Lakes and the surrounding area -- including 15 lakes and 56 miles, with the main stop in Vergas. Cars taking part in the Fall Foliage Tour range from 1917 models on up to 25 years old. The public will be able to view the cars at The ClubHouse during the evening.

Leather & Leavez
Zorbaz will host the first ever "Leather and Leavez Motorcycle Rally" today, to benefit the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center. The 140-mile ride starts at noon from the DLCCC, at 826 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. There will be a freewill pancake breakfast provided by Country Kitchen in the Senior Center in the lower level of the Holmes Theatre from 10 a.m. until noon. Stops along the route will include the Park Rapidz Zorbaz, Little Pine Zorbaz near Perham, Pelican Zorbaz and DL Zorbaz. The ride ends with a free will hot dog and bean feed and live music by Acoustic Addiction at the Detroit Lakez Zorbaz. The ride is $20 per person, with all pre-registered riders receiving a free t-shirt.
Jazz Profusion Trio
The Lodge on Lake Detroit in Detroit Lakes invites you to relax and reconnect with friends at its Napa Theme Wine Tasting and "Live at the Lodge" event featuring the Jazz Profusion Trio. The wine tasting begins at 5:30 p.m. Come sample some new wines, ask questions and learn more about wines in a relaxed atmosphere, and enjoy yourself in the company of good friends. Following the wine tasting, "Live at the Lodge" begins at 7 p.m. in the Lodge's lakefront fireside lobby. There is no cover charge for the concert, which is free and open to the public.

'Fine & Pleasant Misery'
The Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes will kick off its 2008-2009 theatre season with a laugh-packed one-man stage show based on the writings of one of America's funniest outdoor writers. "A Fine and Pleasant Misery: The Comedy of Patrick F. McManus" is set to begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $11 for students.
