Jerome Gerberding

Jerome "Jerry" T. Gerberding, 61, of Moorhead, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at Rosewood on Broadway, surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born to Elmer and Lorraine (Froehler) Gerberding on December 16, 1952 in St. Paul. He grew up in Watertown, S.D., before moving to Fargo, where he graduated from Shanley High School in 1971.

He graduated from North Dakota State School of Science in 1975 with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology before enlisting in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash., and Seoul, Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1980.

On January 15, 1977 he married Monica Rabideaux at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. He went on to graduate from North Dakota State University with a degree in Construction Management in 1986. He worked for various engineering firms, and finished his career with Widseth Smith & Nolting in Alexandria.

Jerry loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren, and being at the lakes. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and always liked working.

Surviving Jerry are his wife of 37 years, Monica, of Moorhead; children Ryan (Amy Fredrickson) of Fargo, Nate of Alexandria and Becky of Moorhead; grandchildren, Marcus and Lexi, both of Fargo; siblings, Judy Hoffman, Jeanne (Mick) Alm, Jim (Nancy), Joan (Dale) Cook, Jack (Patty) and Janette Silleck; father-in-law, Leo Rabideaux of Pelican Lake; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Elmer and Lorraine Gerberding; sister, Janet Gerberding; mother-in-law, Frances "Pat" Rabideaux; and brothers-in-law, Harold Hoffman and Leo Rabideaux II.

A celebration of Jerry's life is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, with visitation starting at 11 a.m.
