Jerrald D. Schurdevin, 72, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Jerry was born the son of Cecil and Ellene (Liljequist) Schurdevin on August 12, 1939 in Shell Lake Township, rural Becker County. He was raised and educated in Bagley, Minnesota. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War.
Jerry was married to Fern Matson on September 25, 1971 in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in rural Frazee. He worked in various jobs throughout his life, which included Tuffy's, Mid-America, Pella Windows and Hough Inc.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking, gardening his odd looking vegetables and also enjoyed just being outdoors. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor by his family and friends.
Surviving Jerry are his daughter, Ann (David) Oien of Detroit Lakes; two grandchildren, Dillon and Megan Oien; one sister, Deloris Buck of Detroit Lakes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents; son, Billy Schurdevin; sister, Doris Conklin; niece, Carol Holt; and nephew, Brad Buck.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
