Former Lake Park resident Jesse R. Mattson, 29, of Maplewood, Minn., died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Innovis Health in Fargo, as the result of a brain aneurism.

Jesse Robert Mattson was born to Robert and Julie Mattson on Aug. 9, 1979 in Detroit Lakes. He grew up near Lake Park, attending school and graduating from Lake Park-Audubon High School in 1997. Following high school Jesse attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and graduated with a degree in computer science. He then returned to the family farm near Lake Park and helped out there for about five years before moving to the Twin Cities.

Jesse had most recently been working at Helgeson Enterprises in White Bear Lake, as a computer programmer. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, snowmobiling, riding the four-wheeler, hiking in the mountains, and playing with his dog, Sango, but most of all spending time with family.

Jesse will be remembered and dearly missed for his gentle nature, his kindness, goodness, love for others, and love of life.

Surviving Jesse are his fiancée, Kayla Hooten; parents, Robert and Julie; brothers, Jeremy (Nicole), Joshua (Emily), John, and Justin Mattson; sister, Jamie (Scot) Hagen; grandmother, Doris Mattson; four nieces and nephews as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Preceding Jesse in death were his grandparents, Vernon Mattson, and Bruno and Venetta Hoebelheinrich.

Visitation for Jesse will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, followed with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Wright Funeral Home in Lake Park.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park, with interment following in Lake Park Cemetery, Lake Park.
