Joan Kaye Carlson
JoanKaye Carlson, 65 of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, at her residence.
JoanKaye was born on October 22, 1943, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Ernest and Marjorie Johnson Jacobson. She grew up and received her education in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1961. On October 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to Ed Bryngelson in Sisseton, S.D. They made their home and raised their family in the Detroit Lakes area. Over the years she worked for Bergen's Floral and later Norby's Department Store in Detroit Lakes. She later married Carl Carlson in Detroit Lakes. They resided in Florida for several years, where she pursued a career in Real Estate. She moved back to Detroit Lakes in the early 1990s. She worked at the Hotel Shoreham for many years and was currently employed by MediVan in Detroit Lakes.
JoanKaye enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Her interests included flower gardening, decorating, traveling, cooking, and target shooting. She also enjoyed the sun, was an avid reader, and animal lover.
JoanKaye is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Bryngelson, of Detroit Lakes, Michele Nybo, of Phoenix, AR, and Christina Bryngelson, of Phoenix, AR; a granddaughter, Anastasia Bryngelson, of Detroit Lakes; two brothers, Terry (Sharon) Jacobson, of Moorhead, MN, and Bruce Jacobson, of Anoka, MN, and her loving companion, Tom Lynch, of Detroit Lakes.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter; Jennifer Bryngelson.
Memorial Mass: Saturday, October 25, 2008, 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, MN
Visitation: 1 hour prior to services at the Church.
Interment: Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN
