JoAnn Quam, 59, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the United Methodist Church in Detroit Lakes, with Reverend Brenda North officiating. Interment will be in Rose Creek Cemetery in rural Austin, Minn.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
The visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
JoAnn Quam was born to Paul W. and Doris (Sargent) White on August 6, 1954 in Austin. She was raised and educated in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1972. She attended the Austin Vocational School and then worked for Wells Fargo Banks in Austin, Owatonna, Fargo and Detroit Lakes.
JoAnn was united in marriage to Steve Quam, September 10, 1977 in Austin. They made their home in Owatonna prior to moving to Detroit Lakes in 1994. After retiring from Wells Fargo in 2010, she drove bus for Mahube Head Start, 2010-14.
JoAnn cherished time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed N.A.S.C.A.R. races, cheering for Tony Stewart, helping others, cooking and baking for The Refuge.
Survivors include her husband Steve, of Detroit Lakes; two sons, Dan of Las Vegas, Nev., and James (Wendy) of Grimes, Iowa; a daughter, Elisa (Pat) Ford of Detroit Lakes; four grandchildren, Shawn, Clayton, Kenley and Kyson; a brother, Paul "Butch" (Marilyn) White of Detroit Lakes; a sister, Judy (Ron) Anderson of Moorhead; and her mother-in-law, Marlus Quam of Austin.
Preceding JoAnn in death were her parents, Paul and Doris; step-mom, Nancy White; and father-in-law, Lester Quam.
