April 29, 1961-June 30, 2013
John Charles Grignon, 52, of Hopkins, Minn., was born April 29, 1961 in Kansas City, Mo., to Ro and Kathleen (Herbison) Grignon.
John passed away on the glorious afternoon of Sunday, June 30, 2013 with his wife holding his hand. He and the love of his life, Evie (West) Grignon, shared 27 years of love, hope, joy and dreams; they married on August 3, 2002.
John attended Hamline University and Moorhead State University, earning a BS in computer engineering and programming. He was employed by Medica, United Healthcare, and Cargill.
Some of John's favorite memories occurred at Round Lake in northwestern Minnesota, hunting and fishing with his father and siblings and riding dirt bikes. He also enjoyed gardening, both in Hopkins and with his mother at Round Lake.
John and Evie were profoundly grateful to Evie's sister, Barbara (West) Salminen, and her husband Harry for their support and counsel, especially through the final months of John's illness.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Peter; and his grandparents, Herb and Pearl Herbison and Freda Ramsland.
He is survived by his wife Evie; his parents in Ponsford; brothers David (and his wife Mary) of Waukee, Iowa, and Alan of Shawnee, Kansas; his sister Judith (and hus-band David) Hoiriis of Minnetonka; and Mary Kim, widow of his brother Peter, of Overland Park, Kansas.
John will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews as a wonderful, loving uncle and by his cousins as a lifelong friend.
John's ashes will be released in autumn at his favorite place, the family home on Round Lake in Ponsford, when the skies are clear and blue and the trees are brilliant with color.
